01The local market
Transport WA says its vehicle inspection determines whether a vehicle meets standards and statutory licensing requirements and is not a comprehensive assessment of the vehicle’s overall condition or value.
Its current pre-examination checklist tells owners to check that a windscreen has no cracks or chips, while its practical driving assessment vehicle standard rejects cracks exceeding 15 centimetres and chips or cracks in the driver’s line of sight for that assessment. Those pages serve different processes, which is exactly why an advertisement should not turn one threshold into a universal repairability rule.
A Perth auto-glass form should document the actual damage and vehicle, and the repairer should distinguish service advice from any licensing, defect or driving-assessment decision. Transport WA’s tint guidance also restricts windscreen film outside the permitted top band, so glass and tint claims need the actual vehicle and installation context. National vehicle standards add context without replacing the local process.
The Australian Government describes the Australian Design Rules as national safety standards and says ADR 8 addresses visibility, obscuration when glazing shatters and injury risk from broken glazing. The applicable glass and installation still depend on the vehicle and manufacture context. The campaign should therefore say that the business checks the part and process, not imply one windscreen fits every variant or that any replacement resolves every driver-assistance feature.
02The campaign setup
A Perth mobile territory can stretch quickly. Joondalup, Midland, Canning Vale and Fremantle create different travel, stock-transfer and appointment patterns. A broad radius can make an appealing lead operationally poor when the correct glass is at another branch or the address does not provide a safe, level and protected work area.
The form should ask suburb, vehicle availability, mobile or workshop preference, off-road access and cover before offering a window. It should also flag cameras, sensors, heating, antennas and head-up displays for part verification without telling the driver that recalibration is always required or included. Perth campaigns can separate household vehicles from trade utes, four-wheel drives, fleet yards and vehicles awaiting parts after regional travel.
Long north-south routes, industrial estates, port-side access and warehouse security make dispatch planning different from a compact CBD call-out. Heat, dust and direct sun may affect the work area and materials selected by the provider, while mining or commercial accessories can complicate glass identification. Asking about roof racks, snorkels, dash cameras, aftermarket mirrors, fleet authorisation and whether the vehicle must return to remote work gives the booking team a better sourcing and workshop decision without promising priority freight.
03Claims and hand-off
Intake should separate windscreen-chip assessment, full windscreen replacement and side or rear glass. Ask for make, model, year, body style, registration or VIN where appropriate, the exact glass, visible markings, known cameras, sensors, heating, antennas, tint or head-up display, damage dimensions and photos. Record water entry, loose glass and security concerns without instructing the customer to touch broken material.
The repairer should explain whether the next step is review, a quote, part sourcing, workshop attendance or a provisional mobile window. A Meta form is not confirmation of repairability, glass availability, roadworthiness or calibration. Price and service claims need the same discipline.
ACCC guidance says service claims and future promises must be accurate and supportable, and consumer guarantees require due care and skill and fitness for a disclosed purpose. Any advertised price, insurance statement, mobile fee, warranty, response time, same-day offer, cure time or calibration inclusion needs visible conditions. The vehicle specification, damage, glass stock, safe access, weather and technician capacity must be checked before an enquiry is presented as a confirmed booking.
