01The local market
Transport Victoria’s current roadworthiness guidance has a dedicated windscreen and windows section covering wear or damage, repairs, obstructions and the primary vision area. A Certificate of Roadworthiness is an inspection outcome issued by a licensed vehicle tester, not something an auto-glass lead form can promise. VicRoads also lists minor windscreen cracks as an example that can appear on a vehicle defect notice.
The useful ad message is an assessment and repair or replacement service, with the driver told that any formal roadworthy or defect-clearance decision remains separate. Transport Victoria’s body-repair guidance adds a Melbourne-specific claim check: the windscreen and rear window form part of the vehicle structure, and incorrect fitting or adhesive procedures can affect roof strength and rollover performance.
Creative should therefore avoid presenting replacement as a generic pane swap and should not claim manufacturer-equivalent structural performance without the verified glass, adhesive, cure and installation process.
National vehicle standards add context without replacing the local process. The Australian Government describes the Australian Design Rules as national safety standards and says ADR 8 addresses visibility, obscuration when glazing shatters and injury risk from broken glazing. The applicable glass and installation still depend on the vehicle and manufacture context.
02The campaign setup
The campaign should therefore say that the business checks the part and process, not imply one windscreen fits every variant or that any replacement resolves every driver-assistance feature. Melbourne service zones and weather exposure make provisional booking language useful. A team covering Werribee, Craigieburn, Dandenong and Ringwood must account for cross-city travel, workshop stock, safe mobile space and the installation conditions required by its materials.
The form should ask whether the vehicle can remain stationary for the required process and cure period, whether a covered level work area is available and whether cameras, sensors, heating, antennas or a head-up display appear to be fitted. Those answers help allocate the job; they do not identify the part or prove that calibration is required or completed. Melbourne offers can distinguish outer-suburban household bookings, commercial vans, dealership or fleet-yard work and central loading-zone constraints.
Tram corridors, apartment garages, height-limited car parks and controlled depot access are operational details, not targeting slogans. Cold mornings, changing temperatures and rain may affect the business’s chosen adhesive, storage and drive-away procedure, while heated screens and embedded antennas add variant questions. The campaign should collect vehicle location, garaging, keys and site-contact arrangements so the booking team can decide whether to send mobile equipment, reserve workshop space or source an uncommon part before giving a firm window.
03Claims and hand-off
Intake should separate windscreen-chip assessment, full windscreen replacement and side or rear glass. Ask for make, model, year, body style, registration or VIN where appropriate, the exact glass, visible markings, known cameras, sensors, heating, antennas, tint or head-up display, damage dimensions and photos. Record water entry, loose glass and security concerns without instructing the customer to touch broken material.
The repairer should explain whether the next step is review, a quote, part sourcing, workshop attendance or a provisional mobile window. A Meta form is not confirmation of repairability, glass availability, roadworthiness or calibration. Price and service claims need the same discipline.
ACCC guidance says service claims and future promises must be accurate and supportable, and consumer guarantees require due care and skill and fitness for a disclosed purpose. Any advertised price, insurance statement, mobile fee, warranty, response time, same-day offer, cure time or calibration inclusion needs visible conditions. The vehicle specification, damage, glass stock, safe access, weather and technician capacity must be checked before an enquiry is presented as a confirmed booking.
